LONG BEACH COMIC CON 2025 [t71]

Long Beach Comic Con and Space Expo 2025

long beach comic & SPACE EXPO 2025

August 30 & 31, 2025

Long Beach Convention Center

Long Beach, CA

Space Expo 2025 at the Long Beach Comic Con ! Droid Builders have a spot with the Space Stop by and see all the awesome activities at the Expo / Columbia Space Memorial !

Summary:

Long Beach Comic Con holds a special place in our hearts - being our first con we every went to!

It is unfortunate that it has gone from a good size con twice a year -filling all Halls A-C and various rooms/ballrooms for panels etc. and shrinking gradually to now being split up into 2 separate ballrooms on floor 1 and the other on floor 2. BUT! hopefully things will pick up again and it can return to its glory.

There was a strong presence of TMNT fans to meet & great voice actors from the cartoon. Some really great cosplays. Surprised to meet several guests who were attending the con for the first time and expect to attend the next year.

The Space Expo was greatly reduced unfortunately to a few tables alongside the Droid Builders making a really tight space. Always great to have the opportunity to share droid building information with visitors.

We had a great interaction with Janeshia Adams-Ginyard voice of Pandaverse Cartman , Nomble in Black Panther to name a few. Most of the time we find the most enthusiastic interactions are those at their booths. We hope to bump into here again!

HUGE THANK YOU TO THE COLUMBIA SPACE MEMORIAL FOR HOSTING US! ALWAYS A PLEASURE!

How to Build a R2-D2 Panel

August 31, 2025

3:30-4:15 p.m.

Room 203C

Panelists:

  • Steven D. B2EM0

  • Keith V. B1-H1

  • Craig D. R2-2D

  • Ashly Jo D. RD-QD

We had a great turn out for the Panel on Sunday last panel of the day! About 50 attendees ?

We winged it without an official moderator but had a great conversation with the audience going back and forth with droid building information and questions they had throughout. Several build styles, skills represented on the panel making it a well-rounded discussion. Hopefully we recruited some builders ! We may have forgot to introduce ourselves individually.. lol

September 2 & 3, 2023

Droid Builders as part of the Columbia Memorial Space Center Space Expo!

Although this Con has shrunk year by year since before COVID, still a great Con location, and with the Columbia Space Center ! This year it was sharing walls with a fitness … thing. So it was interesting to have comic nerd with fitness nerds in the lobby. The Droid Builders had some new faces to the line up so that was great to have new builders in the mix.

As far as Scum droids went, out of 4 , 3 had some minor issues including a bunk headset for R3XI, R0X1s lights were on the fritz, and 2Ds audio was in and out. MSE Vision camera bit the big one as well

LONG BEACH COMIC CON 2022

Droid Builders Booth

LONG BEACH CONVENTION CENTER

LONG BEACH CALIFORNIA, USA

https://longbeachcomiccon.com

Southern California Droid Builders will have a booth as part of the Columbia Space Expo- Long Beach Comic Con.

Event Summary

Saturday & Sunday droid builders had a booth up front with the Columbia Space Memorial City of Downey Space Expo area. Downey continues to advance the motto of "Future Unlimited" with the Columbia Memorial Space Center and its mission to inspire the future of space exploration.

It was great being up front to great guests when they enter the convention. Sunday seemed a bit busier than Saturday, maybe because it was cheaper. Con was pretty small and not a whole lot of signings or activities for guests other than the incredible space expo area. All in all a great weekend and a good group of droids.

If you are interested in building a droid or even a costume, see the Clubs page for links to valuable resources.
