Photo ops. with characters throughout the park. Ardy Jo & Monster Inferno MSE participated in the opening ceremony and got to escort 1st pitch to the mound! RD-2D got to hide behind the ropes at the booth throughout the night but ventured out into the kiddie play area later on and got swarmed! They have a super yummy beer mustard brat at The Hangar Stadium! Hot day and fun event!

MMCC LA - SEAL DAY & ANIME PAVILION 2018 [T19]

Seal Day! Anime & Comic Pavilion!

EVENT TO SUPPORT THE MARINE MAMMAL CARE CENTER (MMCC) LOS ANGELES! 

SEAL DAY 2018 + ANIME & COMIC PAVILION ! 

They added a brand-new comic-anime pavilion to the event with comic book related vendors and people dressed in cosplay outfits throughout the event.

R2 Builders, 501st Legion, Rebels Legion, Road Squadron/Star Cars and Mandalorian Mercs were out to support the event and hopefully raise awareness and funds to support the center!

Super great event for an awesome cause. Loved watching the Seals and Sea Lions play. Could watch them all day! Bought a large fish for the seals and hope to support them in the future!

Great time with the kind folks in the legion/groups as usual. Hopefully the center got a lot of funds from the event and get a event bigger turn out next time! RD-2D and Monster Inferno MSE had a blast.

Star Wars Day Rancho Cucamonga 2018!

We were fortunate enough to be able to volunteer for Star Wars Day Rancho Cucamonga 2018 aka Star Wars Reads at the Paul Biane Library/Victoria Gardens on Saturday May 26! 

We highly recommend this event to any Star Wars fans in the area! The event is free to the public , parking was free, lots of places to eat, activities, and photo ops. for kids and adults! 

RD-2D and Monster MSE were in attendance and got to hang out with their buddies R2-D2 and Chopper! There was also a Mandalorian droid hanging by the Mando. Merc. booth. We also got to meet L3-37 from the new Solo: A Star Wars Story!

May the Fourth @ a local elementary school

May the Fourth Be With You! 

This year we were invited to a 1st grade class at one of our local Elementary schools!

We took RD-2D and Monster Mouse to suprise room 9.

The teacher is a super Star Wars fan and is lucky enough to be going to Disneyland Star Wars nights on May 9. Students were participating in the Hour of Code event which occurs each year during Computer Science Education Week. "Hour of code has become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts."

Although they were only first graders, and a lot of how RD-2D functioned was a bit over their heads, they did have great questions. Kids have the best questions no matter what the subject is. 

Our favorite question was the last one, "why did you build it?" Usually just looking at RD-2D you get an idea of why someone would build one, because he is awesome! Non the less, a really great question. The answer being mostly, yes because we really wanted one and also to see if we could do it. 

Thank you again room 9 for having us and we hope you all continue your passion for learning and follow your dreams.

Yuris Night LA: Earthrise 2018 [T14]

Desert Scums first Yuri's Night was amazing! So much great spacey stuff ! Epic time celebrating humanities achievements in space. 

Finally got to see a Delorean up close and it was awesome! as was the Kitts & other Star Cars! Johnny 5 was

Saw Bill Nye the Science Guy! Ardy Jo was too chicken to ask him to sign her Monster Mouser or RD-2D panel :( The 501st and Rebel Legion were in action. The droids favorite part was the dance party under the Space Shuttle Endeavour OV-105!

Monster Inferno MSE Complete

Ardy Jo’s Monster Inferno MSE Droid

Ardy Jo finished her Monster MSE droid in time for Long Beach Comic Expo, but unfortunately forgot the controller! Won't be doing that again!

This droid is sitting on a 1/10 scale Traxxas Stampede chassis with a custom cut 3/4 size styrene shell. The top racks, side panels, and frame are 3d printed. LED light strip and top lights are incorporated including a bluetooth speaker. A better way to run the sound would be good for conventions since the wireless signals get pretty jacked up. 

Wanted to run 2 neopixel led rings behind the logos, but chickened out. Plus couldn't get them to run on the Trinket anyways. 

Overall this build was really fun! Easier if you buy the 1:1 scale shell. The most frustrating part was the magnets that hold the top and bottom together kept flipping over when gluing them.

Long Beach Comic Expo [T11]

We were at the LBCE 2018 on Saturday Feb. 17 with the Columbia Space Memorial Space Expo Exhibit. 

Ardy Jo was able to finish her Monster Mouse in time but, forgot the controller! So it just sat and looked pretty all day. Krank finished his MSE side boards and was able to bring it along. His battery unfortunately died before he was able to drive it as well. Sad day for mousers! 

Krank brought along hiss BB-8E head with working lights to display on the table. 

Columbia had a lot of great activities for visitors to participate in at their booths. 

The R2 Builders, BB8 Builders and Mouse Droid Builder clubs were represented using 3 tables to display parts, droids and handouts. We had several astromechs throughout the day including a R2-D2 and a Boba-fett style R2.

At the end of the day we had a informational panel and explained the different clubs/droids and builds. 

Super great time despite our set-backs. Always learning new stuff and meeting great people!
